Party at Farm May 3rd

Exciting plans are afoot! We are designing and raising funds for a sturdy, permanent and easy on the eyes in-ground greenhouse.  Construction will begin in the late summer and completed by the fall.

This multipurpose space will greatly improve our CSA's security in food production. Uses include:
1. Starting our own seedlings in the spring on site (instead of contracting out with others or using a satellite greenhouse)
2. Extending the harvest season by enabling us to reliably grow hardy greens into the early winter, as well as in the early spring.
3. Indoor space for hot crops like tomatoes, peppers and eggplant to hedge against cool short summers

BLUEGRASS   FUNK   FOLK    ROCK   A CAPELLA

There is no admission fee. They'll be a tent for the music (multiple acts featuring shareholders!) and we'll fill the barn with tasty potluck treats.  The event also marks the beginning of our online crowd funding effort so folks who want to contribute to the greenhouse construction can do so in person during the party or on the web.

Natural Egg Dyeing Workshop

Traditional Arts of Upstate New York (TAUNY)

Join Flip downtown this weekend to learn techniques for natural egg dyeing! All ages welcome. Participants will learn about various egg decorating traditions and use one technique involving imprinting leaves and flowers onto eggs and dyeing with vegetable based dyes. All materials are provided, but participants are encouraged to bring leaves, greens, ferns and flowers and anything you can find growing outside right now that you might like to use in your designs.

The cost for the class is $15 per person ($12 for TAUNY Friends). Space is limited, and pre-registration is required by calling 386-4289 or emailing programs@tauny.org.

Garden stroll and POTLUCk this saturday!

We were planting peas this time last year. And as much as we'd love that this weekend,  much is still covered in snow and/or frozen. There are not tasks for a large group. As a result, no work in the morning!  Instead we'll change up the pace a little with a farm walk at 11:15am and an outdoor potluck meal to begin at noon. It'll be a chance to catch up with one another and let new and potential members get a sense of the place. We're making a chickpea dish. You're welcome to contribute any dish or beverage as simple or complex and you'd like.

This year the potluck's are open to members and non-members alike. So bring a dish and join us!

ADJUSTED SCHEDULE:
11:00am stroll to all the littleGrasse fields

noon: POTLUCK & DISCUSSION: 'WHY CSA?' Returning members are encouraged to share their experiences with CSA while new members have a chance to talk about what drew them to littleGrasse and CSA. Farmers Bob & Flip will share their motivations as well.

NO ON STREET PARKING: Park in barnyard at 309 Miner St.
Dutchess field still under snow
