Fall Storage Share pickup

It's time for the one-time distribution of the Fall Storage share.  Some opt into this share as an extension beyond the weekly Fresh offerings that have just wrapped up here at littleGrasse. For others it is supplemental beyond home gardens or other local options. Whatever the reason, we're excited to offer this delicious bounty of veggies to enjoy during autumn meals and the upcoming holidays.

PICKUP: daylight hours TUESDAY OCTOBER 28th.
Your veggies will be in the share pickup room in the barn. They will be divided by veggie, as the weekly pickups are. The white boards will list the quantities allotted for each of the vegetables. Plan for around 10 minutes to gather your items together. There will be cardboard boxes and plastic bags available here and you are welcome to bring your own (esp paper bags).
Offering includes:
BEETS
BRUSSELS SPROUTS
CABBAGE
CARROTS
GARLIC
KALE
ONIONS
POTATOES (three varieties)
PIE PUMPKINS
WINTER SQUASH

Email us if you have any questions. While someone will be at the farm during the day, we won't necessarily be hanging about the barn when you stop by.
Bon appetit!

garden morning pics

Included below are a couple pics from last weekend's garden morning, 3,000 garlic planted, 1,000 shallots, fence cleanup and a couple hundred pounds of brussels snapped from their stalks. That's allotta brussels! You'll see their bounty in this week's distribution. The rain held off just long enough to hear a few tunes from Camilla, Rosemary & Catherine. Already looking forward to next year and the musical garden morning possibilities.

garden morning & music!

What a wildly mild October we've had. The warmth may last through our LAST GARDEN MORNING this Saturday. If not that's okay, we're a hardy bunch. Dress for success (and to stay dry). Fun in the fields from 9am-noon, then a potluck lunch with LIVE MUSIC from our own Camilla Ammirati, Rosemary Philips & Catherine Jahncke! They've generously agreed to share some acoustic songs and celebrate the season. Have an instrument and want to join in for a couple songs?
BE THEIR GUEST!

SHARE OFFERING:
BRUSSELS SPROUTS
CARROTS
COLLARDS
KOHLRABI
sweet ONIONS
PARSLEY
SPINACH
WINTER SQUASH-sweet mama or buttercup
Brussels on the stalk
Our BRUSSELS SPROUTS crop is the best this season of any so far. There's both a high quantity of plants as well as fat n' full sprouts. It's a charming plant to see, a ladder of little sprouts climbing the stalk. We'll distribute the entire stalk and you are welcome to snap the sprouts off immediately and toss the stalk in the compost by the barn (or save for duels!).

There has been some light damage to the tops of the CARROTS that are being distributed this week. That's why some have the top part of the root cut off. Still edible and will store well in fridge.

For those who have a lil' break this week, ENJOY!

garden morning RESCHEDULED for october 18th

Due to an unexpected change of plans regarding processing of the final chickens, we need to move the garden morning from Saturday the 11th to Saturday the 18th.
The farm who was to process our last chickens this weekend just cancelled due unavaoidable circumstances in their family. We contacted the processor we used last year and he cannot come this weekend, but is available next Saturday. Though this is an on-farm happening, it is not appropriate for a large group. A secondary benefit of postponing is that the garden morning is no longer during SLU's mid-semester break.

WHO: littleGrasse shareholders & friends
WHAT: group morning in the garden with potluck to follow
WHEN: Saturday Oct. 18th  9am, with potluck at noon
WHERE: share barn at 309 Miner Street Road

If the weather permits, we will plant garlic and shallots.

This is the final garden morning of the entire season and we sure hope to see you there!
