let the tastiness begin!

This week's highlights are PEAS (snow and snap), GARLIC SCAPES (so many!) and CILANTRO.

If ever you want to talk cooking ideas for any produce that's offered in the share, don't hesitate to ask us or other members of the garden. All our past posts are keyword searchable and there's an abundance of other CSA farms and members who've blogged with recipe ideas.

littleGrasse permit and distribution info

Our public hearing is on June 18th at 7pm, which is when we'd (hopefully) be issued a permit for CSA operation in the residential zone.  The Planning Board has indicated that there is no problem with our application, but this is an open meeting and it'd be much appreciated if we had community support there.The meeting is at the Municipal Building, 60 Main Street.

We'd originally hoped that distribution could start next week. But we need to have the permit in hand first.
If all goes as planned on the 18th, our first distributions will be Tuesday the 25th and Friday the 28th. This applies to Fresh Full Season and Year Round shareholders.

premulching the squash field

This morning was optimal transplanting weather, a 'glass half full,' way of saying sunless and still. We seized the chance and put in 6 varieties of winter squash, 3 varieties of pumpkins and 3 of summer squash. Ninety hills of 'em right up in 'Irene's field,' by the barn. Gavin, the neighbor boy, was the champion of the morning getting lots done and keeping us all entertained. A mellow yet productive morning. Fun!

june second saturday garden morning

WHO: littleGrasse shareholders and friends
WHAT: group morning in the garden with potluck to follow
WHEN: Saturday June 8th 9am-1pm
WHERE: share barn at 309 Miner Street Road

Reminder: On-street parking is a no-go. First cars park smartly (edges of driveway) in barnyard. If that's full, there should be space at the farmhouse next door.

We'll be making asparagus quiche for the potluck!

We had a lovely and productive morning last Saturday with several folks who'll be out of town this weekend. It was great to get so many beans in (dry, soy and green). Nice work all.
